How to Take Care of Your Eyes

Our eyes are very important in our daily lives. Taking care of them is not hard as long as we know what to do. If something’s not right, go to the doctor or optometrist for check-up. 



 
Here are few ways to take care of our eyes:
  • Eat food rich in Vitamin A and beta carotene.
  • Wear UV protective glasses when out under the sun.
  • Do not wear contact lenses more than recommended hours (soft: 12 hours/day, semi-soft 10 hours/day, hard: 8 hours/day).
  • If your work requires the use of computer, rest your eyes more frequently. If you have small computer, get an additional monitor or choose a video wall suitable for you.  Small monitor can cause eye strain.  
  • To prevent puffiness, press cold cucumbers for 10 minutes.  Cucumbers have ascorbic acid and caffeic acid that helps in preventing water retention. In other words, it can help relax your tired eyes.
  • Choose well lit areas to do the reading. Do not read in dim light. That will also stress your eyes. Rest if your eyes feel tired.
