Cosmetics Have Expiration Date Too

December 11, 2012
Not all cosmetics have expiration date printed on them especially when their shelf life is 3 years or 30 months. This is a tough one since it’s hard to tell when the item was manufactured. Even so, there are precautionary measures that we can do to protect ourselves from the ugly effects of expired cosmetics.

One of trusted brands when it comes to cosmetics.
  1. Choose a reliable store to buy your make up or other personal care products.
  2. Check the labels or packaging before heading towards the till. Always look at the period after opening (PAO) on the label. It looks like the picture below. Please take note, a cosmetic that has been opened are exposed to microorganisms that can cause skin irritation, allergies or infection.
  3. Close the container after every use to reduce chances of contamination.
  4.  If you’re not yet convince, you can check the physical consistency of the product. Check the smell, color and texture.
  5. If still you’re still unhappy, contact the manufacturer to verify manufacturing date of the cosmetic you have.
  6. Toss to the bin any expired make-up, face creams and similar items.
  7. Do not buy brands you don't trust.

  2. Correct, expired cosmetics could do more harm to your skin than what it promise to you, to beautify.. Always check the labels and don't buy in the streets which has no guarantee on the safety of those cosmetics..

  9. I'm very particular with expiration dates when it comes to food products and medicines but I seldom check on make up and similar products.

It is really important to buy trusted products all the time to avoid problems in the future.

  10. ..but sometimes because we want to save or cannot afford to buy the next beauty products we tend to exhaust anything there left even if it expired, i've known some person like that and i always remind them that it ain't helpful to used an expired product.

  12. Thanks for sharing this very informative post, Len.

I learned about this in one of the posts of my blogpals many years before. After reading it, I had become too particular in checking out all the labels of the products I purchase. It pays to be extra careful.

  16. All items have expiration date talaga. As consumers, it is our task to determine that we use the products during their valid periods. Otherwise, may mga harmful effects talaga.

  17. I also make sure I check every expiration date sa kahit anong produkto.. I didn't want to take the chance.. Anyway, facial wash lang naman yun..
